Spilled Ink is a Tokyo-based collaborative YouTube channel owned by Daidus and Emirichu, two
long-time digital artists, that was created primarily for them to try and use various mediums of
traditional art. The first three episodes were posted on May 6, 2024, although the channel had
been in the works for over a year beforehand.
A storytime youtuber with a style that leans towards fast-paced animation. After a long period of creative burnout, he reignites his passion for art after his girlfriend, Emirichu, approaches him and tells him that she is drawing a gift for a friend with a pencil on a shiki board. This, along with the rampant growth of AI art, leads to the conceptualization of Spilled Ink, which is focused on traditional art. He has a squid theme, even demonstrated in his intro ("Squid up? No, squid neutral!"), and seems to have a tendency to self-deprecate.
Also known as Emily, she is a fellow storytime youtuber and the other half of Spilled Ink. Although unlike Daidus, her style seems to lean towards animatics, and has even stated herself that she is not an animator. She is widely known among her fans for being quite clumsy and her love for strawberries. She has a lot of variety in her content, occasionally making animatics, art challenges, collaborations and content about fictional media, although recent content seems to lean towards vlog-style content, mainly those related to food.
A strawberry squid and the official channel mascot. His name is a portmanteau of the Japanese words of "Strawberry" (いちご - Ichigo) and "Squid" (いか - Ika). His appearance and name seem to be based on Daidus's squid theme and Emirichu's love for strawberries. As of now, his origins are unknown and he doesn't have a concrete backstory.
